unionism in crisis - a programme for action The working class and trade unions are facing an historic challenge. Corporate-driven globalisation has changed for ever the relationships between workers and employers, in both public and private sectors. Old-style compromises are out and confrontation is in as jobs are moved from Britain to lower labour cost countries and public services become commercialised. Yet the present leadership of the trade unions - including the so-called "awkward squad" - is clearly incapable of taking up these new challenges. This pamphlet was written by trade unionists who are members of the Movement for a Socialist Future. It is aimed at stimulating the discussion already taking place in the unions about the future direction of the labour movement. £1 including postage. 2 The alternative to New Labour "So in practice, the Third Way tries to abolish classes by imposing the interests of the minority on the majority. The second part outlines Healy's work in the revolutionary movement from his arrival in England in 1928 up until 1985. In the centre of the book is a fold-out section showing the projection of the path of cognition developed as a teaching aid by Gerry Healy. £13.50 including postage. From Kurdistan to Palestine, Chechnya, East Timor and Tibet, oppressed peoples are struggling for their independence. This pamphlet sets out a concrete, partisan and principled attitude to the right to self-determination. Lenin's analysis of the economic foundation of national movements is outlined, and studied in relation to his logical method. The theoretical origins of the disastrous "two-stage" theory are shown. A special section about Chechnya and the North Caucasus draws on recent research by the Minority Rights Group and historical sources recently made available in the former Soviet Union. £2.00 including postage. manifesto says: Don't waste your vote on New Labour The Movement for a Socialist Future's 2001 election manifesto, Shape the Future, says that the parliamentary system has failed and that "an extension of democratic procedures throughout every area of society" is the only alternative. The Manifesto argues that the right to vote is devalued by the existing parliamentary system of government. Political institutions today exist essentially to lend legitimacy to the global corporations which control our lives, the Manifesto says. During the election campaign, the MSF called for:
