Sarah Medway
Sarah Medway's shimmering flows of paint radiate serenity. Unlike some of today's artists, she is not afraid of the aesthetic dimension and specialises in creating delicately desirable objects. The idea that art might be about "beauty" seems highly radical in this day and age. Here there are no gimmicks. Instead, all the possibilities of painterly illusion created by colour and form are exploited to the full. The image rises out of a fractured texture, not by reference to known forms. As Rosanna Negrotti has written: "Medway picks up on glints. She seems to build her picture up from chinks of light". See: In the Realm of the Senses
