A World to Win

Loved the bit with the coal and the newcastle shirt. Not sure the colours are REALLY you but at least it brought a change from the stripey grey jumper that played too prominent part in an otherwise exceptional production. Fashion wise - could do better - Grade C.

A very powerful historical and political film, should be shown to secondary school children so that they have an insight into this era. Excellent choice of still images, videos and music to convey the messages. Commentary makes the film accesible to a variety of audiences.

Excellent, so true. Dylan Strain gets the point across perfectly and adds what assume is his own special flair to a very serious subject which in the current financial climate is affecting more and more of us, 'the Tax payer'!

That's brilliant Dylan! The invisible hand... the visible hand.. and now to fix the mess... the grabbing hand... Was it a Northern Rock logo on your Newcastle shirt? how opportune...

I believe Dylan Strain has produced a very hard hitting comment on British politics and life in the Thatcher era.

On top of that he brings it up to date by linking her policies of mass privitisation with today's financial problems.

He does this in many ways but very visually by wearing a Northern Rock (building society) t-shirt. Northern Rock symbolises the way in which many people embraced their handful of shares or 'something for nothing' and felt they were part of a great financial institution. They became property owners and felt invincible - but like the ebbing and waning of politics their finances fell around them.

I think the use of Northern Rock create a powerful image for several reasons.

For many years pre 1980s it was a strong player in the North East's community - backing football and other community events.

Now many of its workers are jobless - and investors have lost out in their income from shares.

Northern Rock is still trying to sort out the mess. This brings the film right up-to-date.

The film is relevant today with a powerful message. It would be a good choice for schools and communities.

Dylan Strain (my son) has captured the capitalistic dream that Thatcher brought to this nation and consequently this country to its knees its financial ruin. We are now paying the price for from the fat cats of Thatcherism.

Dylan has taken the viewer by the throat and wittingly and sardonically,
with fabulous soundtrack, lead him/her along the path of capitalism at its very worst. Sod you mate...I'm alright! pull the ladder up!!

Well done son, can't wait for Part 2!

With a light touch Dylan Strain puts his finger on the damages being inflicted on our world by (industry, capitalists and by the public) the seemingly insatiable greed for higher profits. This man strikes me as a superb analyst with a great sharpness of mind. A film on such a serious subject could be dry and academic. Yet how refreshing it is for the audience that such a man has a good sense of humour and a warm heart. This is infotainment at its very best.

At the end of his film Dylan Strain admits that he is a good consumer, but that he keeps changing and keeps learning. That´s what each of us should try doing. But please, Mr Strain, promise one thing: Don´t change your attitude of mind and do continue making lots and lots of films like this.

Informative, humourous, entertaining and relevant... Wonderfully weaving the light into an inherently dark subject matter, Dylan Strain has essembled a damning, but unfortunately accurate portrayal of the political system in the UK. Great footage and startling images are perfectly coupled with wonderfully chosen soundtrack. A winner! I hope more people get to see this!!!

Exceptionally informative and entertaining. Grabs your attention and holds it for the duration of the film but does so in an interesting, amusing and sometimes quirky fashion. Deserves a wider audience.

Great title, brilliant comparison Madonna - Margaret Thatcher, impressive battlefield photos, all in all an amazing summary of today's (and recent past's) consumerism.
